What are coaching topics?

What are coaching topics?

In short: anything that is about you, and about the life you want to build.

Coaching is about giving yourself the opportunity to achieve something that matters to you. And that may be something small, or something very big, something ordinary or something exciting. It can also be several elements combined, which we sometimes only unravel through coaching.

Generally speaking, most coaching topics revolve around these themes:

  • I need to make a choice and don't know how.

  • I want to feel different in a certain situation and don't know how to go about it.

  • I want to improve my relationship.

  • I want to do different things in my life, although I don't yet know what or how.

  • I'm at a certain stage in my life, and I want to deal with it differently.

  • ...

Sometimes the topics are quite specific, and therefore wonderfully diverse:

  • I have just been appointed manager of a new team. From the start, how do I establish the momentum and vision I am striving for?

  • I'm working on a project that feels like my life's mission, but I'm not going to be able to make money from it. So what do I do?

  • I am told that I always respond very gruffly to my husband/wife/lover. How do I change that?

  • I recently became single again and I want to meet new people, but I don't know how to go about it.

  • I am trying to find a new job, but I don't want to do what I used to do. Just: how do I go about it?

  • I have a job interview soon. How do I approach that?

  • A colleague is driving me nuts. How do I deal with that?

  • I want to be promoted and my manager said that I need to raise my profile as a leader first. How do I do that?

  • Soon there will be promotion rounds, and I want to be part of it. How do I get on the radar?

  • I have started in a new company, and now I want to get everything out of it - only I am not sure what that is, or what exactly I want out of this new position.

  • I am dissatisfied with my employee, and need to have an uncomfortable but important conversation with him/her. How do I make it a conversation that works?

  • I want to address (the lack of) cooperation in my team, and am looking for ways to understand the dynamics and turn them into a desired(er) dynamic.

  • I always get nervous when I have a conversation with my manager. How do I stop that?

  • Soon there is an important meeting with a client. I want to prepare myself well, and look at how I could use such a conversation in a different way.

  • ...

So there are MANY questions that qualify for coaching. What is your question?
